Good morning to all GYCA_West Africans, From My very narrow table in GYPAM office here in Lagos I write to you all this morning, I wish to extend my warmest greetings to everybody who in one way or the other have contributed to African development, expecially some very active GYCAians in Nigeria, like opeyemi, Akimbo cornestone, Ugwu veronica and all the rest, I want to state emphatically that GYPAM is not part of Nigeria@50 celeberation, I have not lost my sense of critical judgement, I have refused to be looped into those who are significantly insensitive of the of the lunacy in our governance system. Yes numerically Nigeria is Fifty no doubt, But what can we say, our government has refused to pay attention to the burning desires of the masses, just imagine the amount of money slated for the celebration while people are dieing of cholera outbrake in the North, on my television this morning, i heard that a school bus full of school pupils were hijacked at Aba abia state by kidnappers, Currently Aba is witnessing the worst spate of Insecurity as never before in the world.
I Don't want to celebrate Nigeria at 50, so are hundreds of GYPAMITEs, . It may be surprising to many but that was our resolution.

WEST AFRICAN GOVERNMENTS AND THE FIGHT AGAINST MALARIA, A CONTRIBUTION FROM GLOBAL YOUTH PLAN AGAINST MALARIA, HIV/AIDS (GYPAM).
The total annual loss by African governments to Malaria span in the width Millions of dollars. In Nigeria, several approaches and policies in a bid to control malaria scourge have been put in place yet not much has been achieved. Malaria remains one of the foremost killers of infants in Africa and south East Asia.
The gross reduction in National productivity could be subsequent to unchecked malaria mortality. Malaria impoverishes people and makes them more prone to other heinous infections.
The decision makers in Nigeria rather embark on a discontinuous political agendas and policies without any detailed longtime developmental work plan and as such they spend haphazardly from one tenure to the other. This can never be of any help to the fight against malaria or other tropical diseases.
In West Africa, research showed that the following factors account for the inabilities in eradicating malaria and other dreaded tropical disease.
PLOITICAL FACTOR.
• No definite work-plan for the control of malaria.
• No provision for research and development.
• Hospitals are poorly equipped.
• Oligarchic capitalistic-democracy where the interest of the masses are unnecessary to the few very powerful ruling caucus.
ECONOMIC FACTOR.
• Undue employment.
• Lack of good accommodation.
• Rural urban migration.
• Increasing poverty indexes.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
• Power sewage/waste management systems.
• Swamps and marshy areas.
• Poor drainage systems.
THE PEOPLE.
• Over reliance on government.
• Negligence.
• Dirty lifestyles of the people.
• Poor awareness..
THE FOLLOWING STEPS CERTAIN.Y ARE INVALUABLE IN THE FIGHT AGAINST MALARIA, AND GYPAM ASK THE WEST AFRICAN GOVERNMENTS TO INCOPORATE THEM IN THE ACTION PLANS IF WE REALLY WANT TO CURTAIL MALARIA MORTALITY.
• Should revisit and ameliorate the decrepit urban city roads and gutters.
• Should encourage research and development. Establish research institutes.
• Make a continuous supply of pipe borne water.
• Make insecticide treated nets really free and available.
• Make provision for low cost houses.
• Mobilize local authorities and the police to enforce the cleaning street gutters.
• Should equip our hospitals with modern high tech gadgets and drugs.
I want to personally use this opportunity to commend every African youth who is working in one way or the other to actualize the dream of a healthy Africa, especially those working for malaria eradication. Specifically I want to commend Ify Aniebo on her recent award as the young person of the year, in the 2010 future awards in the UK. She is currently doing a great work in the prestigious Sanger institute in Cambridge where she is working on the intricacies surrounding the resistant abilities of plasmodium falciparum to artemisinine combinations. Kudos to her.
Once again, malaria is treatable and preventable, I quote Abdulaye wade, Senegalese president, lets join hands and actualize the healthy Africa dreams.

Malaria is a disease caused by a very insignificant germ called plasmodium which attack humans and even animals causing undeterminable discomfort, headache, confusion , misery, vomiting, poverty etc. it is treatable and preventable especially by using simple key steps which in GYPAM we call ‘’ CLEAN AND DRY METHODOLOGY.
Be that as it may, malaria continued stay in the tropics and sub-tropical countries could be related to the negligent attitude of the people or perhaps as the travail of corruption on the side of the leaders and the people fighting malaria.
Over the years, people have developed the ritual of continuous fallacious believe and diagnosis of malaria believing it to have resulted from excessive work, witchcraft , excess oil intake, afternoon sleep, or as a normal right of passage etc., but how true is that? Because of negligence and corruption, we lose our population to malaria daily.
In GYPAM, work out our project plan, though it may be gradual but is highly result oriented with a realizable time line.
If you are in west Africa or in Nigeria, and you are disturbed by the increasing malaria mortality and want to contribute your quota in the fight against this age long scourge, or you want to joint the team of people who knew combating malaria is not impossible, or you want to be tutored on how to play your role in the fight against malaria. Then contact us through any of the following contacts.
